Welcome to Rocks
Welcome to the project website of Rocks: It's Time For Change. Rocks is a small project in Clark County, Washington dedicated to enhancing the science curriculum of the Evergreen School District.The short term goal of rocks is to bring a rigorous, year-long Geology class to all high schools in the district. The science community still knows very little about our vast planet — by bringing Earth Sciences into our high schools, we can encourage more students to begin the journey of discovery and breakthrough.
Let's Start A Revolution
Our nation's colleges report that out of all science majors, a small percentage of them are related to Geology or similar Earth Sciences. In order to address this issue, rocks long-term goal will be to start a revolution. The following must be accomplished:- High schools in Clark County following suit by offering rigorous, year-long Earth Science courses;
- The State of Washington changing their curriculum so that one year of Earth Sciences is required or can fulfill another science requirement;
- the College Board creating an AP Geology course (or something similar, such as AP Earth and Space Sciences).
